QUOTE BY MARK TWAIN Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. PHILIPPIANS 2:14 Do everything without complaining. SWEDISH PROVERB Those who wish to sing always find a song. |
| EXAMPLE 1 There are a few things I sketch Which are my personal favorites: The Bunny below is a good example, And he is beautiful when matted And framed into an 11 x 12 or larger frame. With this one I would add The color with My watercolor pens; I always do my study, and then I make my copies/prints, and then I add the color, Making each one (sort of) an original. |
| MANDALA MAKER Copyrighted by Jean Elizabeth Ward The Mandala Maker Precise and proud, Draws her line, And thinks out loud. What will it be That I will see tonight? I must not think, Yet, think . . . right, She closes her eyes, Thank you for this moment; ... She writes ... To the left, and to the right, Around and around she goes, One side, and then the other As she dwells not -- On the future, the past, Her family, or her lover. Alas! Alas she Has completed this one, And to The Mandala Maker It was creative fun. Excerpt from my book EARTH SPIRIT |
POETRY PLUS ART -- ART GALLERY Examples of Ink Sketches, Mandalas, Illustrations, and Prints by Jean Elizabeth Ward Poet Laureate -- Multimedia Artist -- Mandala Maker -- Published Author |
EXAMPLE 2 When my vision was limited I found that ink was the easiest for me As I could hold it on a clip board, And I didn't have to move my eyes; Which was great as the right one Had been secured in place, And this couple is the style I developed for myself; Practicing By sketching A left and a right image And then adding the color As I did with this pair Emulating Pablo Picasso. This couple still remain one of My personal favorites. ~~~~~~~ Signed and dated copies are available in sizes 8 x 10, 5 x 7, or 4 x 6 contact me for details. |
| EXAMPLE 3 The one below is 16 x 20; I painted the picture and them prepared the frame and continued the picture out onto the frame, It is much larger than it appears here. Instead of ink I have emulated the style of Marc Chagall and was much more difficult to complete as you can see by all the different colors. The son below the sun is symbolic for my son. Everything else is symbolic for something. l still own this painting and have found that Mr. Chagall is much more difficult to try to emulate than Mr. Picasso. I have developed my own style, still I wanted to add this one for you to see what can be done with acrylics. They are wonderful, fast drying, and I have found that oil can be added to enhance them as well. |
| MY MOTTO AS A MODERN JAPANESE SENRYU POEM 'Tis better to do something and make a mistake than to do nothing |
| EXAMPLE 4 Will be my more elaborate and abstract ink sketches which I have worked for years to perfect and get the look I want; I attach my acid free paper to a clip board, then I begin in the middle with the eyes and work outward from there. I found that to be better for making my copies as well. I can take each one and collage them and make them as large as I want by doing this. Below are just a few example I AM STILL WORKING ON THIS PAGE PLEASE DO VISIT AGAIN THANK YOU JEAN ELIZABETH WARD |
| EXAMPLE 5 I purchased many courses in Mandala Making and learned them all, but in the end I went with what I like to do. There are many with oil pastels on the traditional black paper. However, then I returned to my favorite medium, which is ink; I like the bleeding of the ink through the paper -- giving me another effect on the reverse side; I like that and the choices I have -- of adding color in whatever medium, and if, or if not I choose to do so. One of my goals for 2007 is to put together my own Mandala Book, with poetry for each one. Below are only a few examples to be added as time permits |
| EXAMPLE 6 MOSAICS Have always been one of my loves and I love the challenge of the collages I finish with. My personal favorite has been my lamps, mirrors, and picture frames. POEM FROM THE BOOK POETRY A' LA SHAPE VINCENT VAN GOGH Vincent Van Gogh - would paint a bat, And was probably convinced that He could fly – as well, As his sickness Drove him Straight Into a Bats H E L L Bats And, Alley cats, And rats that fly, However, to paint like Van Gogh I would never try. EXAMPLE 7 MINIATURES Many of my miniatures may be found on my lamp shades which I paint for the lamps I mosaic. Once upon a time it was my Santa's and my jewelry. I no longer paint those, now it is my seascapes and palm trees. I WILL BE ADDING PHOTOS AS TIME PERMITS THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY 2007 Photographs Barbara Anne's 2nd.
